Andreas Fritz, Senior Sales Engineer at Sectigo about CLM solutions

CyberCompare spoke to Andreas Fritz about CLM solutions.

How would you describe Sectigo in 3 quick-witted words?

Trusted, Innovative, Comprehensive

Please introduce yourself briefly and tell us something about your background.

I’m Andreas Fritz. I have more than two decades of sales and engineering experience in digital trust. I’ve worked extensively in certificate lifecycle management and have a demonstrated history of providing business values to customers in the enterprise and service provider industry. Outside of work, I’m passionate about traveling.

What distinguishes Sectigo?

Sectigo stands out for its unwavering commitment to security innovation, its comprehensive suite of solutions, and its trusted reputation as a leading global CA. And as the industry’s most innovative provider of comprehensive certificate lifecycle management (CLM) solutions, Sectigo has become the platform of choice to deliver digital trust across the enterprise. In fact, customers both large and small trust Sectigo to protect their data, safeguard their reputations, and preserve their customer interactions.

How does Sectigo help companies?

Sectigo empowers companies of all sizes by providing cutting-edge digital solutions that safeguard their digital identities, secure their online transactions, and protect their sensitive data. We are proud to provide Certificate Lifecycle Management solutions to companies of all sizes, which enables them to operate with confidence they are receiving the best option for their unique needs. Our ever-growing list of awards and industry recognitions are a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional automated certificate management solutions and our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability.

What do you see differently from prevailing opinions in the field of cyber security?

Most providers of PKI solutions have been slow to embrace and promote the shorter certificate lifespans encouraged by Google and other browser companies, but Sectigo has not. Last year, we led the market by issuing more than 145 million certificates with a 90-day lifecycle or shorter, as opposed to the industry standard of about a year. We believe shorter lifespans are inherently more secure and we are therefore committed to helping our customers transition to them without disrupting their day-to-day operations. Sectigo also provides a proactive approach to the quantum apocalypse and a strategic blueprint for quantum resilience. We stand out from other security companies by being able to guide organizations of all sizes through every phase of the quantum readiness journey.

What’s next – what’s on your technical roadmap, what are your plans for 2024 and beyond?

Our technical roadmap is centered on advancing our cutting-edge technologies to address emerging threats, constantly enhancing our product offerings to meet evolving industry standards and the unique needs of all customers and expanding our global reach to better serve our clients’ needs. We’re committed to staying ahead of the curve and delivering innovative solutions that set new benchmarks in cybersecurity excellence and certificate agility, and we are doing this by providing CLM solutions for companies of all sizes and guiding organizations through every phase of the quantum readiness journey.

If you could send an email to all CISOs to address a security issue, what would you choose?

I would stress the importance of adopting crypto-agile practices and fully automated CLM processes as a priority. Certificate management has shifted from being a luxury to an essential requirement for organizations. In today’s digital landscape, every encrypted transaction and secure communication relies on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), making certificate management a critical priority. Yet, many organizations are unaware of their certificate management maturity level, leaving them vulnerable to costly outages, compliance breaches, and security risks. Effective certificate lifecycle management (CLM) is paramount for bolstering an organization’s security posture. Security teams must seize control of certificate management, recognizing the benefits of shorter certificate lifespans. Automated CLM solutions streamline processes, offer visibility into all certificates, mitigate outages, and ensure compliance. These solutions also prepare organizations for emerging cryptographic standards and current threats like ‘harvest and decrypt’ attacks.
