Siemens AG has implemented a future-orientated automation system that meets the requirements of the IT Security Act 2.0. To this end, the existing PCS 7 systems were upgraded and a highly available virtual automation environment was introduced. Following successful implementation and auditing by the BSI, full compliance was confirmed. In future, this approach is to be transferred to other projects in the water and wastewater sectors.

The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre in Glasgow modernised its OT infrastructure to implement the Defence in Depth concept and comply with the NIS2 directive. A classic island production environment was converted into a robust, segmented IT/OT infrastructure. Managed Scalance switches, firewalls, SINEC INS and SINEC NMS were integrated and anomaly and intrusion detection implemented. Siemens solutions based on the ‘Security by Design’ principle were also used.
