Hi, I am Nils Heilgermann and live with my Mrs. Right in the green heart of Germany. I have joined Novatec in 2023 as Managing Consultant after working more than 7 years as security expert in a consultant role for the American multinational technology company nicknamed Big Blue. I am characterized by my technical expertise and engineering experience in the areas of Security Intelligence & Operations Consulting as well as Security Strategy, Risk & Compliance due to various international customer journeys. I support our customers in the development and implementation of a sustainable and holistic IT security strategy and strengthen the security awareness in companies as a trusted advisor in this area.

What do you see differently from prevailing opinions in the field of cyber security?
In my opinion, a clear focus on particular specialized cybersecurity solutions and technologies without considering the entire corporate is absolutely the wrong way to go. Customers repeatedly tell us that there are isolated cybersecurity products in use, but that they neither interact nor communicate with each other properly and represent so-called island solutions. I also hear frequently on social networks and in discussions with customers that product manufacturers and cybersecurity companies are primarily concerned with selling promising solutions without taking a holistic view of the company. My strong recommendation is therefore to always consider the holistic cybersecurity strategy of a company and to focus more on the sustainable and comprehensive design and optimization of this strategy, taking into account current guidelines and frameworks such as the NIS2-Directive or the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF) 2.0.
How would you describe Novatec’s working culture to a potential customer?
I like to describe our working culture in two words: listening and tackling.
