Dear Jean-Christoph, how would you describe OEDIV in 3 striking words?
Secure. Scalable. Partnership-oriented.
We stand for being a reliable security partner that monitors their IT security 24/7 from Germany and actively supports them with certified expertise in the event of real alarms. Our SOC-as-a-Service adapts flexibly to customer’s internal resources, enabling a professional level of security with lower financials investments for our customers compared to conventional solutions.
Please briefly introduce yourself and tell us something about your personal background.
My name is Jean-Christoph, and I have been involved in cybersecurity for many years, both strategically and operationally. A defining moment in my career was experiencing a severe cyberattack on the client side. This experience underscored the importance of well-prepared security structures and quick responses in an emergency. That’s why I decided to switch perspectives and support companies as a service provider to prepare them as best as possible for day X. My goal is to implement security concepts not only technically but also strategically and practically.
What makes OEDIV special?
For 30 years, we have we built with our customers a trusted partnership because we know that people make the difference. Our SOC-as-a-Service stands for high-quality cybersecurity – reliable and around the clock. While many providers rely on distributed “follow-the-sun” models, we operate our 24/7 SOC with a dedicated team, fully operating out of our headquarters in Bielefeld. For our customers, this means fast response times, consistent contacts, and in-depth expertise tailored to their security requirements. At the same time, our flexible and tiered model allows companies to book the services they really need – with full transparency and predictability.
How does OEDIV help other companies?
We offer companies a state-of-the-art Security Operations Center without high initial investments for our customers. Instead of building their own SOC, they benefit from our 24/7 monitoring, certified security analysts, and active response to real threats. Our flexible per-user pricing structure makes budgeting easy, and our offering grows with our customers’ needs. This allows even medium-sized companies to achieve a professional level of security that would otherwise be reserved for large enterprises.
What do you see differently from prevailing opinions in the field of cybersecurity?
A widespread misconception in the SME sector is: “We are too small to be a target.” But cyberattacks do not only affect corporations but also medium-sized companies – often with existential consequences. Today, attackers use fully automated attack methods that systematically scan for vulnerabilities and do not differentiate by company size. Another common misconception is that AI will solve cybersecurity problems on its own. AI is a valuable support, but it does not recognize every technical and strategic nuance of a threat. Human expertise is still needed to understand complex attacks and respond to them appropriately
Why is SOC-as-a-Service particularly important for SMEs?
Medium-sized companies often face two challenges: they do not have their own security specialists, but at the same time, they are attractive targets for cyberattacks. Our SOC-as-a-Service fills this gap. We provide not only professional threat detection but also active response in an emergency. This way, companies no longer have to fear noticing an attack only when it’s too late.
What role does Microsoft Sentinel play in your SOC-as-a-Service?
As a Microsoft Security Solutions Partner Security, we have consciously chosen Microsoft Sentinel as a SIEM tool because it is a fast, cost-effective, and powerful solution. Companies benefit from seamless integration into existing Microsoft environments and AI-supported threat detection. The key advantage: we take over the complete setup and operation of the SIEM directly in the customer’s tenant. This way, companies retain full control over their data while we ensure smooth operation.
What distinguishes your SOC-as-a-Service from traditional Managed Security Services?
Our SOC-as-a-Service offers companies a tailored security solution that adapts flexibly to their internal IT resources. We rely not only on automated threat detection but also on personal support – with real experts who not only report incidents but also actively accompany them. In addition, our simple tiered model with transparent pricing ensures that companies only pay for what they really need – and can still scale at any time.
What’s next – what’s on your technical roadmap for 2025, what are your plans?
We continuously develop our SOC-as-a-Service according to market and customer requirements. In 2025, this includes the introduction of AI-supported threat detection and automation. We want to further develop our SOC-as-a-Service, especially with AI-supported threat detection and automation. Cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated – that’s why we also rely on machine learning to recognize patterns even faster and stop attacks earlier. At the same time, we want to optimize our solutions even more specifically for SMEs and industry-specific requirements.
If you could send an email to all CISOs to address a security issue – what would you choose?
“The challenge today is to implement a robust cybersecurity strategy despite the shortage of skilled workers. We believe that human connections make the difference. Our SOC-as-a-Service offers more than just technology: we stand by your side as a personal, reliable partner to create a secure future together. For 30 years, we have relied on genuine connections – and that’s what makes us unique. Let’s work together to ensure your organization is well-positioned even in uncertain times.”
